Know Your Rights

Protecting your health and your legal rights is your responsibility.

You have the right to insist that your abortion can only be performed by a licensed physician.

You have the right to know the medical malpractice history of this physician and to know whether his or her license to practice medicine has ever been suspended or revoked.

You have the right to know if this doctor has an insurance policy that will protect you in case of injury or death.

You have the right to insist that if you are injured during your abortion, you are to be immediately transferred by ambulance to the nearest emergency hospital or trauma center.

You have the right not to have an abortion. Regardless of your age, marital status, or any other factor, no one has the legal right to make you have an abortion. If anyone tries to force you into this decision against your will, contact Resource Health.

Patient Safety Information

Even life-threatening abortion injuries are not always apparent at the time of the procedure. If you have any unusual physical problems in the weeks that follow your abortion, seek medical attention immediately as you may be having complications from your abortion.

If you ever have reason to suspect that you are still pregnant after your abortion, seek medical attention immediately. You may have an ectopic or tubal pregnancy that could rupture and be life-threatening.

If you are a minor and you have an abortion without telling your parents, let them know immediately if you develop problems that you think may be related to the procedure. Abortion injuries can be serious or fatal and your parents can help you get the medical attention you may need.

The Abortion Pill

In the earliest stages of pregnancy, it is sometimes possible for an abortion to be done by chemical means. This is usually called a "Medical Abortion." Be aware that abortion providers often reduce their costs of doing these procedures by not following some of the drug manufacturers' guidelines. This can result in serious injury or death. For your own protection, never consent to this type of procedure until the physician assures you that he or she will follow all of the drug manufacturer's recommendations (this assurance is part of the Physician Disclosures).

Know the Risks

Far from safe, so-called “self-managed abortions” leave women completely on their own through a days-long process.

Abortion information

There are several types of abortion procedures. The abortion pill, also known as medical (or chemical) abortion, or "Plan C," is available for use up to 70 days after last menstrual period (LMP). All other types of abortion are surgical. To discuss abortion procedures with a licensed medical professional, schedule an appointment with us today.

Costs?

There are several factors that determine the cost of an abortion. Some of those factors are the length of pregnancy, geographic region, medication needed, and procedure type.

Be aware that some abortion service organizations do benefit financially from your decision. Be sure to educate yourself on the specific organization as you engage their services. Resource Health exists only to serve you and does not financially profit from any choice you make. Resource Health neither performs nor refers for abortions.
